A remote jungle experience

Welcome at the arrival location in Leticia, Tabatinga or Santa Rosa (airport or river port); hotel check in and lunch. If needed, immigration process. A visit to some local attractions in and around Leticia, like the Museum of Ethnology and the park of the parrots. Time for preparation. Dinner.

Breakfast, check out and departure by boat to Heliconia. Depending on the season, the boat and the time taken for stops, this trip will last three to six hours down the Amazon River and up the Javarí River (110 Km). A stop at Benjamín Constant and a visit to the Ticuna museum. Arrival at the lodge, check in followed by lunch. Choice between canoeing on the nearby lakes and a walk in the jungle. Return to the lodge and dinner followed by a talk about the jungle.

Departure before sunrise by canoe looking out for birds and the Amazon dolphins. Return to the lodge for breakfast. A three hour walk in the jungle when there will be an opportunity to learn about useful native jungle bush craft techniques. Lunch in the lodge. In the afternoon, a swim in one of the black water lakes and a chance to go fishing. Return to the lodge for dinner. After dinner, a night boat trip looking out for caimans. Return to the lodge.

Breakfast and departure by boat to the local community of Palmarí, a village of mixed parentage Brazilian settlers (caboclos) where the preparation of farinha, a popular yuca food, can be seen. A walk through the jungle to the Cachoeira creek. Lunch at the riverbank. A swim and mud bath in the black waters of the creek. Return to the lodge and dinner.
